Self-vulcanizing cement is a specialized adhesive and repair compound used primarily in the automotive and bicycle industries to repair inner tubes and other rubber-based materials. It is designed to create a strong and airtight bond when patching punctures or tears.
Composition
Natural rubber latex or synthetic rubber base
Accelerators o Solvents (for liquid formulations)
Colorants
Features and Benefits
Forms a strong and durable bond with rubber materials.
Used for repairing punctures and tears in inner tubes, tires, and other rubber items.
Facilitates vulcanization, ensuring a secure, airtight seal. o Quick-drying and fast-curing for efficient repairs.
Resistant to water, heat, and common environmental factors.
Suitable for both bicycle and automotive tire repairs.
Available in various forms, including liquid, glue, or pre-cut patches with integrated cement.
Packaging
Commonly available in small tubes, bottles, or blister packs.
Liquid formulations are often packaged in small applicator bottles (280 gr.-1,4 kg.).
Pre-cut patches may be bundled with the cement or sold separately.
Labeling includes instructions for use, safety precautions, and composition details.
Directions for Use
Clean and roughen the damaged rubber surface.
Apply a thin layer of self-vulcanizing cement to the damaged area.
Wait for a few minutes to allow the cement to become tacky.
Apply a patch (if using pre-cut patches) or overlap the repaired area with another rubber surface.
Press the patch firmly onto the cemented area. o Allow the repair to cure and vulcanize, ensuring an airtight seal.
Safety Precautions
Keep out of reach of children.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes; if contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
Use in a well-ventilated area. o Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
Shelf Life
Typically has a shelf life of 1-2 years when stored under proper conditions.
